Diary of filming
13th january
We all went out to our location to take pictures of the surroundings. This gave us an idea of how to film our shots and where. We also practised some practice shots which would make our film opening effective. During today's filming we also discovered that we need to film using the right angle with our camera which should be landscape not portrait as this is what would be used in a real film opening.

Today, we filmed our group reading out the script. The reason we did this was because as a group we wanted to make it clear what our film was actually about. It was also good for our group to get an overall understanding of the script and see if we needed to edit it. As we read it out, we noticed a few technical errors and grammar mistakes which needed to be changed such as "She had to walk down a dark alley which was dark at the other end”. As we read this out we realised that it didn’t really make sense therefore we changed it.

In one of our free periods, we decided to practise some shots again and think of ideas and different shots which would be effective in our film. We practised tracking shots, closeup shots, long shots which were quite

On the way home from school, I took some more pictures in the dark to give us an idea of how we can use our location further. I also thought they would be useful to put on our blog and expand our location research.Over the time, our film ideologies developed and whilst filming we changed our storyline bit by bit but generally we have stuck to the main idea of a girl getting abducted. Throughout doing our blog and filming we came up with new ideas which would make our film more effective such as having a bit with Cath on the phone to her mum and her friend Emma. We also decided that using a van and following cath with it is not a great idea as none of us have one or can drive, therefore this would rather difficult to film and make it effective. We decided that cath should get followed in an alley way close to her school and this would happen all in one time rather than in three days, we did this as it would be very hard to film 3 different days and they would take up more than two minutes therefore our film opening would be too long.

Today we started the actual filming, we met at 5pm in the alley way by our school and filmed some shots which we are using in our film. We made a good use of the shots we practised before and did them again but this time our characters were dressed in costumes. These are some of the shots we got which we thought were very effective and we are going to use them in our real film opening.

We stayed after school to think about what other shots and moments we need to capture which are crucial for our film. We met miss at 3pm and filmed her as the mum in our film speaking to Cath. We got some very good shots which we are going to portray as shot-reverse shot switching from Cath's mum to Cath. This will be effective as it will create tension and it allows the audience to get to know Cath more so they have more sympathy for her when she gets abducted.

Today we all met up and did some more filming in the alley way and near the station as we needed more different camera shots and we wanted to finish the storyline of our film. However, this time we experienced some technical problems, it got dark very quickly therefore some of our videos are very dark and we will need to film them again so they match the darkness of the whole film. This is one of the videos we recorded:

We did some more filming and we decided that cath will not call her friend anymore as it takes up too much time so we decided to stick to her only calling her mum. It's crucial that we do not take up too much time on showing the scrip as we need to show the old man following Cath and finally catching her.

Today we met up for the last time and finished our filming materials for our film. We filmed various different shots which we needed to finish our film. Some shots such as Cath's point of view shot didn't look good at first therefore we had to redo them a few times to make sure it looked the way we wanted it to. We have some very good shots to work with however, we will need to cut some of them and as there are some shots which our characters laugh at the end.
